What Ruckus knows about you

Not much, and nothing it doesn't need. This page covers the Ruckus app, the Ruckus server it talks to, and this website. Last updated 15 October 2026.

The short version

  • The app has no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting.
  • You can use Ruckus without signing in. Then the server knows nothing about you.
  • If you sign in with Steam or Discord, Ruckus stores your Steam or Discord ID and your public name and picture. No email, no password, no friends list.
  • Things you choose to share, like ideas, votes, published races and race times, are stored so others can see them.
  • You can delete your account from the app at any time.

On your PC

Ruckus keeps its settings, your profiles, downloaded mods, backups and game logs in its own folder on your PC. They don't leave your PC unless you share something.

When you sign in, the app keeps your sign-in token in Windows Credential Manager, not in a file. The crash helper looks at your game's logs on your PC only and sends nothing anywhere.

The app connects to:

  • The Ruckus server, for sign-in, ideas, likes, share codes and races.
  • GitHub, to read the mod catalog and download mods and Ruckus updates.
  • Steam and Discord image servers, to show profile pictures.
  • Steam and Discord sign-in pages, only when you choose to sign in.

Discord status, if you turn it on, talks only to the Discord app on your own PC.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional and works through Steam or Discord. Ruckus never sees your password. From Discord it only asks for your basic profile (the identify permission).

WhatWhy
Your Steam or Discord IDTo know it's you next time you sign in.
Your public name and picture from Steam or Discord, or a built-in picture you pickShown next to your ideas, races and times.
A sign-in sessionKept on the server only as a fingerprint (a hash) of your token, with when it was created and last used. It expires after 90 days without use. Sign out everywhere ends all of them.

Things you share

WhatWho sees it
Ideas you post, and your votes on ideasIdeas and their vote counts are public in the app. Your name is shown on ideas you post.
Mod likes and favouritesLike counts are public. Your favourites are only shown to you.
Profile share codes and ghost codesAnyone with the code. Codes nobody has used for 90 days are deleted.
Published races: the route, the car and the recorded driveEveryone, in the app and on this website, with your name.
Your race times and the ghost of your best timeLeaderboards show your name and time, in the app and on this website.
Race upvotes and reportsVote counts are public. Reports are only seen by the person who runs Ruckus.

IP addresses and logs

The Ruckus server runs on Cloudflare. It doesn't store your IP address with your account. It uses it briefly to count requests so nobody can flood the server, and those counters expire on their own within the limit's time window. If something goes wrong on the server, the error is logged so it can be fixed.

Deleting your account

In Ruckus, open your account and choose Delete account. That removes your sign-in identities, sessions, votes, race votes, race times, ghost codes, likes and favourites, and clears your name.

A few shared things stay so they don't break for other players, without your name: ideas you posted show "Deleted user", and races you published show "Former player". Reports you sent lose your name and reason.

This website

ruckuslauncher.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies. The live race data comes from a public file that holds only race names, player names and times already shown in the app.

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies or local storage, doesn't track you across sites and doesn't collect personal data. If you pick a light or dark theme, your browser remembers that choice on your own device.
